Description
For better athmosphere in multiplayer games and especially for single player levels.
Music should react on the game situation:
- Fast music, when having a great battle.
- Slow, quiet music when there are no enemies or exciting situations.
Music should also depend on the level. Dark levels should have "dark", scary music.

Sometimes it's better to use no music at all.
Good example: Half-Life. Most of the times there is no music, but when a horde of zombies is attacking or when you have to run or flee or if there is a big spaceship attacking you on the ground (stuff like this) there is cool, motivating music which intensifies the game experience.
